      OBITUARY
      MR. W. FURNER
It is with deep regret that
we record the death of Mr.
      William Furner and extend
      deepest sympathy to his sor-
      rowing wife and daughter
      Lettie.
      The late 'Billy' Furner was
one of the quietest but most
      highly respected residents of
      Carcoar where he had lived
all his life. His first wife pre-
      deceased him many years ago.
The last sad rites were con-
ducted at St. Paul's Church of
      England, and the funeral cor-
tege of over 50 cars that fol-
      lowed the earthly remains to
God's acre on the hillside was
one of the largest seen in
      Carcoar for many years.
      Deceased had been in ill-
health for some time prior to
his death, and a week previ-
      ously underwent an operation
      at Orange Base Hospital, but
failed to recover. He died for-
tified by the last rites of the
      Church.
      Vale, Billy Furner ! The
      large funeral procession gave
      evidence of the high esteem
in which you were held after
63 years of life among us.
      The late Mr. Furner was
      the Priest's Warden at St.
      Paul's, Carcoar, for many
      years. He was a practical
      Church worker and attended
to the ringing of the bell
      every Sunday.
      A large congregation at-
      tended the Requiem Mass cel-
      ebrated by Father Clark on
the morning of his funeral, at
      which Father Clark preached
a panegyric on his many good
      equalities and spoke very high-
ly of his many attributes — a
      devoted husband, a sincere
      Church worker, an examplary
      father, honest and clean
living and one who bore his
      last painful illness with great
      fortitude and suffered a very
      pious death.
