Body Recovered.
BOY WAS DROWNED.
All doubts as to whether William
Moen, a Mittagong Farm Homes boy,
had been drowned or had run away
were set at rest on Saturday when
his body was found in the pool at
Berrima -where he had been swim
ming. Moen was with a party of
boys from the Home who went
swimming on Thursday; 25th Janu
ary. He was missed when roll-call
was made.
Efforts to recover his body by the
use of grappling irons and a diver
proved unsuccessful and it was
thought possible that Moen had taken
the swimming party as an oppor
tunity to run away. Some children
picking blackberries near the swim
ming pool first noticed the body,
which was recovered by Constable
Hardy, of Moss Vale, who was in the
vicinity.
Moen was 12 years of age and was
of excellent character. Officers who
had come in contact with him did
not hold the view that he had run
away as he was perfectly satisfied
with life at the Homes.
