OBITUARY.
Mrs. WALTER SLY.
Many Hawkesbury people — particularly
residents of Richmond and Windsor-will
have kindly recollections of Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Sly and their famiiy, and will be
sorry to hear of Mrs. Sly's death, which
took place on the 16th October at the Coast
Hospital~from septic poisoning. Mr. Wal-
ter Sly is a brother of Mr. William
Sly, who for many years kept the famous
old Black Horse Hotel in Richmond, and
also, of Mr. Henry Sly, who has a hair-
dressing saloon in Richmond. He is a na-
tive of Richmond, as was his late wife, she
being Miss Annie May Mortimer, daughter
of the late Henry Mortimer. She was 53
years of age, and was a woman of kindly
nature and charitable disposition. Some
15 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sly con
ducted the Commercial Hotel in Windsor,
having come from Richmond, and they had
many sincere friends, in both towns. Of
late they had. been living ' at Lidcombe.
They had the large family of 15 children,
two of whom died in childhood. The sur-
viving family are: — Ethel (Mrs. Weir, of
Burwood); Stella (Mrs. Gilbert, of Peter-
sham); Harold and Harley (Waverley) ;
Mona (Mrs. Gardiner, bf St. Peters).; Irene
(Mrs. Clarke, of Five Dock) ; Frank and
Claude (Lidcombe); Pearl (Lidcombe) ;
Dorothy (Mrs. Cassell, of Homebush) ; Nor
man, Kathleen and Valarie (Lidcombe).
Mr. Walter Sly and his family will have
the sympathy of all their Hawkesbury
friends in their sore bereavement. - [S52] x NSW BDM Indexes, 5423/1888 .
