    • Maitland Daily Mercury Friday 1st Nov. 1918:

      Death at Fosterton.

There passed away on Wednesday morning last a very old resident of the district in the person of Mr. Michael Kelly, Fosteron. Deceased had been failing for some considerable time and his health was causing anxiety to the family. Mrs. Kealy died some nine years ago, and there is now left to mourn their sad loss Miss Maggie, Sister Dorothea (Port Macquarie), Mrs. Ambrose (Haberfield), Misses Hetty and Nellie, Messrs Patrick (Haberfield), Jack (Moree), James (late A.I.F.), Herbert Michael and Charlie (at home). Another son, William, died in Queensland some 11 years ago. Mrs. Tierney, of Dungog and Mrs. Nolan, of Newcastle, are sisters of deceased. The deceased was a native of Kilkenny, Ireland, and came to this country when a young man. He spent all his life in the Hunter River district, and most of it at Fosterton. He had reached the grand age of 71 years and had not suffered much illness until this last few years. The late Mr. Kelly enjoyed the love and esteem of a very wide circle of friends. He was an ardent church member and excellent citizen in every way. The funeral was largely attended. Rev. Father Meagher, a very old friend, conducted the burial service.
