On Saturday afternoon Liverpool Baptist Church
was crowded on the occasion of the marriage of ex
Sergeant Fred Ball, of Liverpool (second eldest
son of Private James and Mrs. Ball) to Nellie
Irene (youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Whiteford, of Kogarah). The Rev. J.H. Bain, of
Mosman, officiated, and during the ceremony Mr.
J. Binnie, of Sydney, sang 'Because,' Miss Eileen
Wearne presiding at the organ. The bride, who
entered the church, on the arm of her grandfather,
Mr. Mitchell, also of Sydney, wore a becoming
bridal gown of ivory crepe de chine and georgette
embossed in silver, with veil, coronet of orange
blossoms and magnificent bouquet. Mr. Mitchell
was supported by Corporal George Harrison, and
Private Lal Hanna as groomsmen. The chief
bridesmaids were Miss Emmie Ball (sister of the
bridegroom) and Mrs. Lucy Fox (the bride's sister),
both wearing pale pink silk voile and carrying bou
quets of pink and white chrysanthemums. The
wedding party motored to the school hall, where
a reception and wedding breakfast were held. Over
100 guests were entertained, ex Corporal Ferguson,
a returned Anzac, presiding, and the usual toasts
were honored, including 'the boys at the front,'
by Sergeant McDonald. The happy couple left for
Katoomba later, the bride travelling in a dress of
cream gabardine, black velvet hat, fox furs. Over
a hundred valuable serviceable presents were
received by the young couple, whose future resi
dence will be at Liverpool.
